The John Lansdown Award Competition:

John Lansdown was an inspirational figure in European Computer Graphics. Following his death in 1999, Eurographics is awarding a multimedia prize in his honor, first offered at the 2000 Eurographics Conference.

You are invited to submit interactive multimedia products either as CD-ROMs, DVDs or web-sites. Judges will consider them for their flair in the use of graphics, sound and interaction. Submissions may range from professional products by established companies to student projects; the essential criterion for assessment is the kind of original thinking exhibited by John Lansdown himself. We seek vibrant interactive systems that engage and intrigue their users.

The best contribution will be awarded with a cash prize of 750 Swiss Francs; the second best will receive 250 Swiss Francs.

Submissions should be sent to:

    Professor Huw Jones
    Lansdown Centre for Electronic Arts
    Middlesex University
    Cat Hill
    Barnet EN4 8HT

    huw1@mdx.ac.uk

Each submission should contain the name, affiliation, and contact details (postal, telephone, FAX and email) of a named person who takes responsibility for the submission and will undertake any correspondence regarding the work. This should also indicate any others involved in creating the work and whether it is a professional product or a student project. A signed declaration naming the work should accompany this, certifying that the submitter has all necessary authority for its submission and will allow Eurographics the right to use images, sounds and/or short extracts from the work for its own publicity.

Submission of CD-ROMs and DVDs should be sent by post to the address above, 5 copies of each submission should be sent for distribution to the judges. Web sites for submission may be indicated by email, but a similar signed cover sheet and authority should be sent by post.

Closing date for submissions:
17.00 hours (British Summer Time) on 3 May 2002 closed

Prize winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Eurographics 2002 conference at Saarbrücken, Germany on 6 September 2002.
