This page collects some practical information, which could be useful during your stay in Nanning.

Currency Exchange

Please note that foreign currencies are not accepted in most cases. For your convenience, you should have enough CNY in cash. In Nanning, currency exchange is possible at the airport, Landmark Hotel, and nearby banks. The currency exchange rates of EUR and USD w.r.t. CNY are currently around 1:8.3 and 1:6.1, respectively.

Connection from and to the Nanning Airport

The Nanning Wuxu International Airport is about 30 km (18.6 mi) away from the conference site (Landmark Hotel). To get to a hotel in the city center of Nanning from the Airport, it is recommdended to take a taxi. The price is around 100 CNY. You are advised to keep the receipt, which could help you to find the driver, if necessary. You may print the following notes and show them to the taxi driver:

If you take an international flight on your way back, please arrive at the airport at least two hours before the time of the departure. You may take a taxi from your hotel to the airport. The ride from the city center to the Nanning Wuxu International Airport takes about 45 minutes.

Restaurants

Nanning has various moderately priced Chinese restaurants, but waiters in most of these restaurants do not speak foreign languages. If you like adventure and unexpected experience, you may just go there and give it a try. Another possibility is to go to restaurants in star-ranked hotels, where the waiters can speak English. Otherwise, there are McDonald's and KFC in various places. Here you get what you know and the prices is usually lower than in other countries.

Cash

Landmark Hotel and big shopping malls may accept international credit cards. Except those specialized for international guests, many grocery stores and restaurants accept only Chinese currency in cash.

Weather

The climate of mid-December in Nanning is usually comfortable. The average temperature is about 16°C (61°F) and the highest temperature may reach 20°C (68°F). Occasional winds and rains are possible.

Safety

Please be careful when crossing the streets in Nanning. Some pedestrians and bikers may ignore all kinds of traffic lights, signs, and barriers. Please do not follow them to cross the streets.
